Biography

Bahaa Radi was born in Amman, Jordan, in 1990. He received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from The Hashemite University, Zarqa, Jordan, in 2012, the M.Sc. degrees in Microsystems Engineering from Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (now Khalifa University), Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 2015 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical & computer engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in 2020. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the Photonic DataCom team, McGill University.

Upon finishing his B.Sc. degree, he spent a year working as an R&D firmware/hardware development engineer, where he acquired experience in developing electronic products targeting the education sector in Jordan. These products include interactive boards and smart active pens intended for use in classrooms.

He is now focusing on building a research profile with the eventual goal of starting a research lab to pursue his research interests that include electronics and photonics integrated circuits for communications and biomedical applications.

  • The McGill Engineering Doctoral Awards (MEDA) - McGill University - 2015 to 2020
    • This award is open to high-caliber International PhD applicants who are subject to the international PhD supplement fee. It is awarded in the amount of $32,000 each year for three academic years, a total value of $96,000.
  • Outstanding academic performance - Masdar Institute - 2015
    • Awarded for outstanding academic performance and graduation with a GPA of 4.0/4.0.
  • Masdar Institute Scholarship - Masdar Institute - 2013
    • A scholarship for outstanding master's student covering all tuition fees and expenses for two years.
  • Dean's Honor List - The Hashemite University - 2008 to 2012
    • I was placed on the Dean's honor list for all four years of study for the highest GPA during each of the four years of study.
  • Highest GPA scholarship - The Hashemite University - 2008 to 2012
    • This scholarship covers tuition fees for the student with the highest GPA in the program. I received this award four times for each of the four years of study
